WAESOL, the Washington state affiliate of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), is a professional, non-profit organization whose purposes are to:
  • Promote scholarship
  • Disseminate information related to ESOL
  • Strengthen instruction, teacher training, and research in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages

Clock hours will be available for both the live conference and the recorded sessions. Please note: Clock hours can only be earned once for a particular session either during the live conference or as a recording.

Rachel Kurz has over twelve years’ experience in international relief and development in the education sector. She has a background in education and M.S.Ed. in Curriculum , Instruction and Assessment. Rachel has worked with students from refugee and immigrant contexts both internationally and nationally, gaining a fuller perspective of the educational barriers refugee students face both overseas and upon entering our local education systems. Rachel currently manages Youth & Education Programs for IRC Washington, partnering with five school districts for the goal of ensuring newcomer youth have equitable education, and the skills and resources necessary to pursue their future of opportunity.
