WAESOL, the Washington state affiliate of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), is a professional, non-profit organization whose purposes are to:
  • Promote scholarship
  • Disseminate information related to ESOL
  • Strengthen instruction, teacher training, and research in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages

The Role of ESL Games in Active Critical Language Learning
As language learning involves ongoing productive practice, it requires active knowledge construction rather than passive knowledge transmission. The mechanical learning approaches to language acquisition have failed the communicative needs of the contemporary communication. This study aims to address how games could positively enhance active critical language learning among ESL/EFL learners.
