WAESOL, the Washington state affiliate of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), is a professional, non-profit organization whose purposes are to:
  • Promote scholarship
  • Disseminate information related to ESOL
  • Strengthen instruction, teacher training, and research in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages

This presentation will explore universal design for learning (UDL) principles for teaching learners of all languages and abilities. The focus of the session will be on incorporating the UDL framework to remove barriers to educational access in pursuit of equitable learning spaces.

This session will report data from a survey of K-12 educators examining how prepared they feel to teach multilingual learners with disabilities (MLDs). This presentation will examine the implications of professional development for educators of MLDs and inclusive education in the pursuit of educational equity for these learners.
