WAESOL, the Washington state affiliate of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), is a professional, non-profit organization whose purposes are to:
  • Promote scholarship
  • Disseminate information related to ESOL
  • Strengthen instruction, teacher training, and research in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages

21st Century Learners Need 21st Century Teachers

To help learners acquire 21st century skills, teachers are required to be themselves 21st century teachers. In other words they are called to possess the know- how of teaching the core academic subjects and skills that learners have to master to succeed in work and life. In this presentation, the presenters discuss the requirements of today’s society and share some activities that would result in critical thinking, communication, collaboration and learners’ engagement to promote the 21st century skills.
