WAESOL, the Washington state affiliate of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), is a professional, non-profit organization whose purposes are to:
Promote scholarship
Disseminate information related to ESOL
Strengthen instruction, teacher training, and research in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages

Creating an online class in which ESOL students are able to develop deep connections to the language and one another can be challenging. This report discusses recent research from a variety of disciplines and provides practical tips for combining visual and curricular design to create a dynamic, welcoming online environment.
